Tax Senior (Pass-Through Entities Tax)

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Responsible for direct customer nurturing activities as assigned
    • Provide timely, high quality customer service that meets or exceeds expectations
    • Maintain the confidence of MFA’s customers and promote a consistent, positive image of the Firm
    • Prepare complex tax returns
    • Prepare tax provisions to be used in audited financial statements
    • Prepare and review tax plans for businesses, including pass-through entities
    • Ensure proper documentation and preparation of tax return workpapers
    • Respond to tax notices and assist with tax audits
    • Assist with the implementation of new tax initiatives
    • Stay current on new tax legislation
  • Supervisory
    • Provide appropriate and timely performance feedback
    • Exhibit a willingness to work with partners and managers on consulting needs of customers
    • Supervise staff in preparing simple and complex tax returns and reviewing these returns upon completion
    • Assist in the development and training of staff to include preparing and conducting in-house trainings
    • Take an active role in mentoring staff
    • Make efficient use of Firm resources
    • Recognize opportunities to share knowledge with staff; be a good role model – lead by example
    • 40 Continuing Education Hours annually as laid out in your customized learning path
    • Participate in a minimum of two (2) recruiting or networking events annually

Qualifications

  • Three (3) to four (4) years of prior experience in public accounting focusing on federal and state tax compliance and consulting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA candidate
  • Experience with corporate, S-corp, and partnership tax returns
  • Experience with financial statement analysis and general accounting
  • An aptitude for or experience with mentoring, coaching and development of staff
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with ability to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • An aptitude for or experience with managing multiple engagements and priorities in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Knowledge of tax software and technology and tax research tools
  • Strong organization, coordination and follow-up skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, an attention to quality, thoroughness and accuracy
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to work independently
