Tax Intern (Corporate Tax)

MFA is seeking to add to its growing Corporate Tax Practice with the addition of a Tax Intern. This entry level individual will grow their career while they are provided with a dedicated mentor, one-on-one guided learning, and internal/external continuing education seminars. They will also learn compliance and advisory services which align with our customers’ overall business goals.

  • Learning fundamental departmental policies and procedures while obtaining a general knowledge base of federal and state taxation
  • Prepare tax returns for corporations and other business entities
  • Assist in communications with customers and third parties to gather information used in the preparation of tax returns
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly estimates and annual extensions
  • Respond to tax notices
  • Document work and complete clear and concise workpapers
  • Be proactive in accomplishing assigned tasks in a timely fashion
  • Actively communicate issues as they arise with respect to MFA matters, customer service concerns, etc.
  • Learn tax research skills and how to prepare a summary of findings
  • Develop a general understanding of computer applications and exhibit an ability to master several tax and accounting software tools
  • Be aware of new tax legislation
  • Create, maintain, and organize customer files
  • Rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to complete assigned tasks

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher in a Bachelor’s program with a focus in Accounting
  • Must have the intent to pursue or be in the pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration with a focus in Accounting
  • Actively pursuing the completion of the CPA exam and related requirements
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate group presentation skills
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a customer service or sales position in retail, restaurants, and/or consulting
  • Excellent written, spoken, and presentation skills
  • Eagerness to learn and follow directions
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
